Tabrett Bethell is an Australian actress and model currently residing in Los Angeles. She is famous for playing Cara in Legend of the Seeker. Her most recent project is Oren.

Acting

Tabrett trained at Australia’s Leading Film and TV School Screenwise, completing the 12 Month Intensive program in December 2007.

Almost immediately, from December 17 through December 21, 2007, she began filming Strangers Lovers Killers, a low budget Australian thriller.

In 2008, she starred as Amy in Anyone You Want, directed by Campbell Graham. This film was shown at the Manhattan Film Festival in July 2010, where Tabrett won the Best Actress award.

She played the lead role of Beth in the Australian thriller The Clinic. Filming began November 2008 in Deniliquin, NSW, Australia. Since then, it has been shown at numerous film festivals, garnering many positive reviews. It has been picked up for distribution by Paramount. The DVD will be released February 2011 in Australia.

Her most well-known role is the Mord-Sith Cara in Legend of the Seeker, a television show based on Terry Goodkind‘s Sword of Truth series. She was a guest star in the finale of Season 1 (episode 22 “Reckoning”, 2009) and returned as a main for all 22 episodes of Season 2 (filmed through early 2010).

In 2011, she was cast as a female lead in the ABC show Poe. However the show was canceled after the pilot. Since then she has guest starred in several more shows and recently completed Oren, an independent film that was on Kickstarter, directed by her friend Tahyna Tozzi.

Modeling

Tabrett has been modeling since the age of 16.  Until 2011, she was a model for Chadwick, a premier modeling agency in Australia. She is also listed as an RoK model. She was once known as the top lingerie model in Australia and has modeled for a number of companies such as EziBuy (an online clothing store for women), Maggie Sottero (award-winning wedding gowns), and RaboPlus (a bank in New Zealand now known as RaboDirect). On February 21, 2007, Tabrett Bethell modeled for Neil Grigg, a famous milliner based in Australia, wearing his Sydney Harbour Bridge tribute. This was featured in a promotion for Sydney and seen across the country.

Other Things

By most accounts, Tabrett was born May 13, 1981. She became a cheerleader for the National Rugby League’s Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks as a Cronulla Mermaid in 1999 and continued for several years. Tabrett was a semi-finalist for Australia’s Cheergirl of the Year in 2001.

Tabrett Bethell was named after a street in Sydney, Tabrett Street, something that resulted when her parents disagreed on what to name her while still at the hospital (her mother wanted “Siobhan,” and her father wanted “Murray”). Her father went for a drive, saw the name of the street, and returned to the hospital to suggest it to her mother, who said, “Yes, that’s it!”. Her name means “celebration” in Hebrew.  The pronunciation of her name is with the emphasis on the first syllable:  TAB´-rett. (See interview: Torch Online).

After the filming of Seeker ended, she visited Thailand and also walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, or The Way of St. James, a famous pilgrimage route in Spain.

She has been photographed with a tattoo on each wrist, one of four stars below a yin-yang, and the other of the Chinese character for ‘forever’. The stars and yin-yang has been spotted in multiple pictures over the years (here and here); however, the ‘forever’ tattoo has been assumed to be temporary. She also has a tattoo on her shoulder.

While filming Legend of the Seeker, Tabrett become close friends with co-star Bridget Regan. On Bridget’s birthday in 2010, Tabrett took her to SkyJump in Auckland, New Zealand (where they were filming Legend of the Seeker). They jumped 192 meters off a building.

She moved to LA, California after being cast in Poe, reportedly living a few blocks from Bridget.
