Angelina Jolie had a Chinese calligraphy tattoo on her left shoulder blade. The character means "死" in Chinese and Japanese, and it means "Death" in English.
For the death symbol, it was her first tattoo that reminded her to live every moment of her life to the fullest.
However, after she adopted her first son, Maddox, she no longer needed the reminder. She later had it lasered off and covered it with her Buddhist tattoo for son Maddox.
